Marib, Yemen - The Marib Police have provided a detailed account of the circumstances surrounding the suicide of a detainee at a police station in the city directorate, and have expressed their readiness to share material evidence of the incident with any interested parties.

According to a statement from the Marib Police, received by "Barran Press,",  a man named Abdullah Khalid al-Bulaili was arrested at a security checkpoint in the province on the evening of Tuesday, May 7, 2024, due to his suspicious behavior and contradictory and disturbed responses to officers' questions. Al-Bulaili was taken to the Rawdah Police Station, located in the second security zone, for standard security measures.

Upon his arrival at the station at 8:08 PM, al-Bulaili was placed in custody. The following morning, he had both dinner and breakfast with the other detainees, who reported that he had been using the bathroom frequently. The detainees stated that al-Bulaili had complained of severe abdominal pain.

At 11:35 AM on Wednesday, one of the detainees discovered al-Bulaili hanging in the bathroom, having tied his pants to the bathroom window and wrapped another part of his pants around his neck. The Marib Police immediately informed the Public Prosecution in the province, which sent an investigation team to the Rawdah Police Station.

The investigation team interviewed the detainees, station officers, and on-duty guards. The Criminal Evidence Department then arrived to document the incident. Once all legal procedures had been completed and the incident had been documented, the body was transferred to the military hospital morgue.

The Marib Police have stated that they have been in contact with al-Bulaili's family, who have requested to transfer the body for burial. The police have expressed their willingness to allow any parties to verify and see all the material evidence of the incident.
