Marib authorities give unlicensed Gas stations 72 hours to close voluntarily.

In a move to enhance public safety and protect citizens from the dangers of illegal gas filling stations, local authorities in Yemen's Marib Governorate have issued a closure order to all unlicensed stations. The order, which took effect on May 16, 2024, gives these stations 72 hours to close voluntarily.

The decision was made during a joint meeting chaired by the Undersecretary of Marib Governorate, Abd Rabbuh Muftah, who urged citizens to report any violating stations. The meeting emphasized the importance of dealing with official gas stations that are approved and licensed by the gas company.

The decision to close unlicensed gas stations comes as a result of the danger they pose to citizens due to the lack of safety and security measures. The official Yemeni news agency, Saba, reported that the closure is aimed at protecting citizens from illegal filling stations.

The meeting also approved the formation of a joint committee to inspect the area and close all unlicensed stations, as well as take legal action against those who fail to comply with the closure order within the specified time frame.

Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of Marib Governorate praised the efforts of the Yemeni Gas Company and the Marib Gas Facility for their role in providing domestic gas to citizens at the official price through officially approved channels and outlets.

The crackdown on illegal gas stations is expected to improve the safety of citizens in Marib Governorate and ensure that all gas stations adhere to the necessary safety and security measures.
