Sana'a, Yemen - Two leaders of the Houthi group, designated as a terrorist organization by the international community, were killed in separate incidents on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Al-Jawf: Houthi leader Mohammed Ahmed Hussein Al-Marrani was killed in an armed ambush in the Al-Khalaq district of Al-Jawf governorate. Sources told "Barran Press" that Al-Marrani was ambushed by unknown tribal gunmen while traveling in a military vehicle. The attack resulted in his death and the vehicle being burned.

Sana'a: In the Houthi-controlled capital, Sana'a, a leader within the group was killed by the son of another leader. The victim was shot in the Hadah area near the Al-Jundul center. The perpetrator is the son of Mubarak Al-Mashan Al-Zaydi, a member of the so-called "Supreme Political Council" affiliated with the Houthis.

Barran Press sources were unable to ascertain the background and reasons behind the incident. However, recent media reports indicate an escalating power struggle within the Houthi factions due to intense competition among the group's leaders over the control of revenues from extortion, taxes, and other corruption-related issues.
