Major General Mufarreh Buhaibeh, Commander of the Bayhan Axis and 26th Infantry Brigade, has criticized the Houthi group's refusal to open roads between Yemeni governorates, despite the humanitarian need for such action.

In an exclusive statement to "Barran Press," Major General Bahibah emphasized that opening roads is a "humanitarian aspect and a service to the people." He questioned the sincerity of the Houthis, who are internationally classified as a terrorist organization, in their opposition to this initiative.

"The internationally recognized Yemeni government is sincere in the initiative to open the road," Buhaibeh stated. "However, the Houthi group cannot accept opening it on its part, no matter what it says or speaks about opening the road."

Buhaibeh highlighted the practical steps taken by the legitimate government to facilitate the opening of roads. This includes the recent visit by the Undersecretary of Ma'rib Governorate, Abd Rabbuh Muftah, and the Director General of the Governorate Police, Yahya Humaid, to Al-Falaj checkpoint. This visit served to confirm that the road is accessible from the government-controlled side.

Last Tuesday, May 14, Undersecretary Muftah confirmed during his inspection of the Al-Falaj security point that the international road (Marib-Al-Bayda) has been ready for travelers for three months. This is according to the arrangements made under the initiative of Major General Sultan Al-Arada, The member of the Presidential Command Council. In February, the Marib-Nihm-Sanaa road was opened unilaterally.

Muftah accused the Houthi group of "still evading this entitlement and deceiving by sending intermediaries who have no decision-making ability to announce on its behalf the opening of this or that road without protection for travelers and no obligation to announce to them."

Since the Houthi group took control of some areas in the southern and western outskirts of Marib Governorate, it has closed the two international roads linking Marib to Sana'a and other areas under the group's control. This has caused severe suffering to travelers who resorted to crossing through the desert extending between Marib and Al-Jawf governorates.

With the escalation of popular calls demanding the opening of official roads to end the suffering of citizens, the Yemeni government took the initiative to open the (Marib-Nihm-Sanaa) road unilaterally. It has called on the Houthis to open it on their part, which has not been done so far.
