Local sources reported on the evening of Sunday, May 19, 2024, that the Secretary-General of the Local Council in Shabwa Governorate, Eastern Yemen, Abdulrabah Hashla, fell into an armed ambush in the district of Murkha, Shabwa Governorate, Eastern Yemen.

Sources informed "Barran Press" that armed individuals set up an ambush for the Secretary-General of the Local Council in Shabwa Governorate in the area of Dhulaymin, in the Murkha district, west of the governorate, and opened fire on him.

The sources confirmed that "Hashla" survived the attack, while his son, "Wafiq," and his nephew, "Mohammed Ahmed Saleh Hashla," were killed. Several of his companions were injured, while the armed assailants fled the scene.

The sources explained that the Secretary-General fell into the ambush while on his way to the city of Ataq, the governorate's capital, to carry out his duties after returning from the Ain district in the western part of the governorate following his weekly leave.
