Marib, Yemen - On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the Ma'rib Governorate (northeast Yemen) witnessed a military parade of symbolic units of the national army in celebration of the 34th anniversary of the reunification of Yemen.

The parade was held at the Air and Air Defense College, according to the Yemeni Ministry of Defense website "September Net." It was attended by the Inspector General of the Yemeni Armed Forces, Major General Adel Al-Qamri, and the Deputy Governors of Ma'rib Sheikh Ali Mohammed Al-Fatmi and Dr. Abdel Rabbih Muftah.

In his speech during the parade, Major General Al-Qamri affirmed the armed forces' readiness and their commitment to the oath and loyalty to the homeland and its great gains, and to spare no effort to preserve the constants and achievements. He said, "The heroes of the armed forces, security and resistance throughout the homeland are the epitome of sacrifice and redemption, the icon of victory and the guardians of gains and constants," expressing his pride and appreciation for the high morale and patriotism and discipline of the students of the 34th batch, and what they have reached in terms of skill and distinguished physical fitness, which is the fruit of dedication, perseverance and hard work in the fields of training and commitment to scientific and practical studies.

He praised the development and modernization witnessed by the college in curricula, programs, activities, and means to keep pace with modern developments in wars and military industries, stressing his confidence that this national batch, which is being built on sound national and scientific foundations and a pure ideology, will be a strong supporter in the battle to restore the state and confront the terrorist Houthi militia and its Iranian project.

He appreciated the efforts of the college leadership, faculty members, teachers, trainers, and administrative and technical staff, in pursuing their noble tasks and working to make the college a success and raise the level of performance.

For his part, the Director of the Air and Air Defense College, Major General Ahmed Saleh Al-Bahish, touched on the gains of the blessed unity and the goals and principles of the September 26 and October 14 revolutions, pointing out that these gains are reflected in the Air and Air Defense College, which brings together all the sons of the homeland from all regions and governorates of the Republic of Yemen and various affiliations under one Yemeni banner and one national goal.

Today, Wednesday, Yemenis are celebrating the 34th anniversary of the reunification of Yemen in 1990, amid popular preparations to revive it in several Yemeni provinces and international efforts to end the war and establish peace.

On May 22, 1990, the two parts of Yemen were united after the success of the "September 26, 1962 Revolution" against the imamate regime in the north of the country and the "October 14, 1963 Revolution" against British colonialism in the south. Yemeni unity was considered the culmination of the struggles of the Yemeni people against tyranny and colonialism, and the realization of their aspirations for life and stability after years of division.
