The European Union congratulated the Yemeni people on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the reunification of Yemen in 1990.

This came in a brief statement from the EU mission in Yemen, which was published on its official account on the "Ex" platform, monitored by "Buran Press".

The statement reiterated the European Union's commitment to "Yemen's unity, sovereignty and independence". It also affirmed its support for "a comprehensive and lasting political settlement of the conflict (in Yemen) under the auspices of the United Nations".

On May 22, 1990, Yemeni unity was restored between the two parts of Yemen, north and south, after the success of the "September 26, 1962 Revolution" against the imamate regime in the north of the country, and the "October 14, 1963 Revolution" against British colonialism in the south.

The unification of the two parts of Yemen was considered the culmination of the Yemeni people's struggle for years against tyranny and colonialism, and the realization of their aspirations for life and stability for which they had long fought under division.
