Local authorities in Marib Governorate (northeastern Yemen) on Thursday, May 23, 2024, inaugurated a medical point to serve pilgrims coming from areas controlled by the Houthi group, which is internationally classified as a terrorist organization, after the group rejected an initiative to open roads to facilitate the passage of travelers.

According to the official website of Marib Governorate, the governorate's undersecretary, Abdulrabih Muftah, and the director of the Hajj and Umrah Department at the Ministry of Endowments, Abdulkarim Al-Sheikh, listened during the inauguration to a brief explanation from the director of the branch of the Yemeni Red Crescent Society in the governorate about the medical point and its equipment and the services it will provide to pilgrims and travelers.

Engineer Faris Al-Aqili, director of the branch of the Yemeni Red Crescent Society, explained that the point, which was established in the "Tadawin" area north of the governorate in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments and under the supervision of the local authority leadership in the governorate, will provide its services to pilgrims and travelers coming from Houthi-controlled areas during their passage through the governorate.

He pointed out that the point will provide primary health care and emergency services for critical cases and provide medicines for patients with chronic diseases, in addition to providing light meals for pilgrims and travelers and providing an air-conditioned rest area, toilets, and a prayer room for them at the point.
