Major General Sultan Al-Arada, a member of the Presidential Council and Governor of Marib Governorate has stressed the importance of improving electricity service and promoting conservation efforts.
During a meeting on Monday, May 27, 2024, Al-Arada discussed the electricity situation with officials from the Electricity Corporation, security agencies, and local authorities. He highlighted the need for expanded meter installation and revenue collection to ensure service continuity and rationalize electricity consumption.
Al-Arada emphasized the importance of public awareness campaigns to encourage responsible energy use. He called on all sectors of society, including media outlets, religious leaders, and community figures, to support the Electricity Corporation's efforts in this regard.
The meeting comes amidst recent challenges in Marib's electricity supply. The governorate has experienced severe shortages due to a single operational turbine at the gas station, which has struggled to meet the increasing demand, particularly during the summer months.
The recent successful maintenance of Turbine 13, which has now entered service, is expected to alleviate some of the pressure on the electricity grid. However, the Director-General of the Electricity Office in Marib, Abdulhadi Saleh Jabir, has urged citizens to continue conserving electricity to ensure the service's sustainability.
The governorate's electricity situation underscores the need for long-term solutions to address the growing demand for energy in Marib. Al-Arada's call for improved service and increased public awareness is a crucial step toward ensuring a reliable and sustainable electricity supply for the region.
