A specialized criminal court in Aden, serving as the interim capital of Yemen, sentenced former Yemeni army officer Amjad Khalid and six others to death on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The verdict, issued in case number 95+49 for the year 1443 AH, found the defendants guilty of "participating in an armed gang."

Amjad Khalid Al-Qahtani, who served as the commander of the Transport Brigade until late February/March 2023, was among those sentenced to death. The court also handed down death sentences to Harun Khalid Mohammed, Saleh Wadi' Saleh Al-Haddad, Ibrahim Wadi' Saleh Al-Haddad, Fahd Fahim Mura'i Al-Maliki (nicknamed Hamoudi Al-Shateri), Ahmed Ali Ahmed Al-Mushaddali (nicknamed Ahmed Al-Baidani), and Mohammed Ahmed Yahya Al-Maisari.

Alaa Adel Radman Mohammed was convicted of assisting the group and disabling cameras at the Hajif Electricity Administration building in exchange for money. He was sentenced to ten years in prison.

Khalid was dismissed from his position as the commander of the Public Transport Brigade on February 26, 2023, following a decision by the President of the Presidential Council, Rashad Al-Aleemi. He was replaced by Brigadier General Ahmed Jaber Al-Qutaibi.

The Southern Transitional Council, which accuses Khalid of terrorism, claims he played a role in the clashes between the council and government forces in August 2019. After the Riyadh Agreement, signed by the internationally recognized Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council in November 2019, Khalid and several members of the brigade relocated to Turbah in southern Taiz Governorate.
