Marib, Yemen - The Planning and International Cooperation Office in Marib hosted a consultation meeting between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and relevant officials from the local authority, as well as the Marib Facilitator Team (DFTS) for the project "Strengthening Economic and Institutional Resilience in Yemen," and the Economic Development Ambassadors (LED) team.

The meeting aimed to discuss the "Economic and Social Development Plan for the Governorate" in the coming phase.

The Director General of Planning and International Cooperation in the governorate, Engineer Saleh Al-Saqqaf, emphasized the need for all relevant offices to work together. Addressing the directors general and facilitators, he called them "the architects of the governorate's renaissance," stressing the importance of everyone taking responsibility. He asserted that the responsibility in the coming days will be greater to elevate the governorate to a position befitting Marib's history and its pivotal presence in the modern Yemeni state.

The meeting reviewed the activities of the "Strengthening Economic Resilience" project (siery).  Basim Al-Saqir, the project's national coordinator, presented the key steps taken, their organization, and the formation of specialized teams. These teams received intensive training to qualify them as consultants, and their upcoming responsibilities were outlined.

Al-Saqir also highlighted the completion of forming other project teams, including the Urban Profiling Team (Urban Development) and the Community Accountability Team, whose selection and work will begin soon. He expressed UNDP's readiness to support the relevant offices with any necessary resources to fulfill their roles effectively.

Engineer Saleh Al-Saqqaf, Director General of Planning and International Cooperation in the governorate told "Barran Press," "We are determined, with the support of the Development Leader, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Governor of the Governorate, Major General Sultan Al-Arada, and the cooperation of all local authority offices, to take firm, wise, and well-considered steps towards implementing an economic and social development plan for the governorate. This plan will have a set of pillars, each with many priorities. Each priority will have several programs, each program will have several projects, and each project will have a measurable goal and a specific indicator. This requires everyone to redouble their efforts to create a suitable environment and build appropriate vessels to receive donor and international partner support, translating into tangible projects and robust infrastructure on the ground."

The meeting included questions and discussions from many directors general, local authority leaders, and attendees on the project's overall framework, the mechanisms used, and the importance of participatory processes involving various community components and sectors within the local authority. This ensures that the vision and future programs are more accurate in addressing the real needs of the state and the population.
