The Yemeni Interior Ministry, recognized by the international community, reported on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, that it had received 49 reports of various criminal cases in areas under its control over the past 24 hours.
According to the daily security situation report published on the Ministry's website and seen by "Barran Press," police departments in the liberated governorates received 49 reports of different criminal cases on Saturday, June 1st. Within the following 24 hours, authorities managed to solve 35 of these crimes.
The report indicated that investigations are ongoing in Taiz, Hadhramaut, and Shabwa governorates to uncover the circumstances of 14 remaining crimes and apprehend the perpetrators.
The solved crimes included 12 cases of intentional harm, 5 cases of fraud and deception, 4 cases of property damage, 3 cases of premeditated murder, 3 cases of theft, 2 cases of arson, and 2 cases of slander and defamation. Additionally, authorities recorded one case each of attempted murder, intentional explosion, possession of narcotics, and defamation.
In connection with these cases, the Interior Ministry's statement revealed that security and police forces apprehended 64 suspects, distributed across governorates as follows: 27 in Taiz, 11 in Shabwa, 6 in Marib, 6 in Hodeidah, 5 in Hadhramaut Coast, 3 in Al-Dhale, 3 in Seiyun, 2 in Aden, and 1 in Abyan.
The statement attributed the reported crimes to "weak religious and moral values, family and personal disputes, financial disputes, land and property disputes, verbal altercations, blood feuds, illegal gains, and other factors related to the general situation, weakened social deterrents, and the proliferation of weapons."
During 2023, the Yemeni Interior Ministry reported a total of 16,539 criminal cases, of which 10,484 were solved.
In a press conference at the beginning of this year, the Ministry confirmed that its security forces apprehended 12,846 suspects out of 15,713 involved in the aforementioned crimes. The search for 1,303 remaining fugitives continues.
