Prosthetics Center in Marib Launches Ninth Phase of Project, Expanding Services for Disabled Yemenis

The Prosthetic Limbs and Rehabilitation Center in Marib Governorate (northeastern Yemen) announced the launch of the ninth phase of its project on Friday, June 7, 2024. The phase, which will run until the end of the year, aims to further enhance the center's services and expand its reach to disabled individuals across the region.

According to a report released by the center, the ninth phase will focus on localizing and improving prosthetic limbs and rehabilitation services. The project also aims to assist individuals with disabilities in integrating into society, ensuring their continued participation as active members of the community, and enhancing the skills of the center's staff through the latest medical advancements.

The report, citing the official Yemeni news agency Saba, highlighted the center's achievements during the first quarter of the project, which ended on May 31, 2024. During this period, the center successfully manufactured and fitted 121 prosthetic limbs and orthotics, along with conducting 154 maintenance procedures for prosthetic limbs and orthotics.

The report also noted that the center conducted 4,506 physical therapy sessions for 785 beneficiaries, significantly improving the quality of life for many individuals. The center provides specialized outpatient clinics offering medical and technical consultations. In the first quarter, the center provided 89 medical consultations by an orthopedic surgeon and 292 technical consultations by a physical therapist, demonstrating its commitment to comprehensive care and support for patients.

According to the report, a total of 1,441 beneficiaries received 5,162 specialized medical services during the first quarter. The launch of the ninth phase marks a significant step forward in the center's efforts to provide crucial support and rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities in Yemen, particularly in the war-torn region of Marib.
