The King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid announced on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, that 15,384 individuals benefited from a measles vaccination campaign and pregnant women registration project in several Yemeni governorates.

A statement issued by the center said that the measles vaccination and pregnant women registration campaign project was implemented in the districts of Midi, Hayran, Abs, and Haradh in the Hajjah governorate and Razih district in the Saada governorate (northern Yemen).

The center noted that the project was implemented from April 29 to May 30, 2024, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and Population in the internationally recognized Yemeni government.

The project organized a vaccination campaign for children under 18 years old against measles, through 17 health workers and a medical clinic, in addition to sending seven mobile field teams that covered approximately 70 areas and villages distributed in the targeted districts.

The project also conducted an awareness and educational campaign for all segments of the population through the distribution of brochures and posters explaining the nature of measles, its main symptoms, how to avoid it and reduce its spread, how to deal with suspected cases, the most prominent preventive measures, areas, and mechanisms for providing vaccination services during the campaign period, as well as encouraging community members to receive vaccinations.

The project worked to register the number of pregnant women in the targeted districts, follow up on them, and enhance early childhood immunization, to reach reliable statistics that enable sound planning for health services related to reproductive health services, both before and after childbirth, and to understand the health status of pregnant mothers and identify needs.

The King Salman Relief Center is active in the medical field in Yemen. At the beginning of June, the "Volunteer Medical Project for Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery" concluded in the Seiyun district in Hadhramaut governorate (eastern Yemen), during which 48 specialized surgeries were successfully performed.

Previously, on May 18, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid concluded a volunteer medical project for orthopedic surgery and joint replacement in the Seiyun district, during which 35 patients were examined in the joint clinic and 25 patients in the bone and fracture clinic, and 27 joint replacement surgeries and 14 bone fracture surgeries were performed.

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid signed an agreement with the World Health Organization worth $9.5 million to support vital health projects in Yemen.
