Sources told "Barran Press" that security personnel belonging to the Aden Governorate Security (southern Yemen) abducted Al-Abidi from the "Jولة السفينة" roundabout while he was driving his car with his young son and colleagues.
The sources reported that Al-Abidi was severely beaten during his arrest and transported to an unknown location believed to be the Dar Saad Security Directorate. The reason for his arrest remains unclear, but the incident has drawn widespread condemnation from activists, journalists, and media professionals. rights and journalistic reports have accused the STC of escalating violations against journalists and activists, tightening restrictions on media institutions in Aden and areas under its control. This is seen as part of its efforts to tighten its grip on media outlets and control their performance.
According to reports, the STC's violations range from harassment and persecution to arrests, torture, and dismissal from work. They also include raids on media institutions, restricting their operations, or preventing them from functioning.
