A civilian was injured on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, by artillery shelling launched by Houthi rebels, designated as a terrorist group by the international community, targeting populated villages in southern Hudaydah Governorate (western Yemen).

According to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, the shelling involved mortar rounds fired by the Houthis at villages in the al-Haymah area of al-Tahita district.

The shelling resulted in the injury of a civilian named Ezzeldin Fattah al-Jana'i, who sustained a shrapnel wound below his knee. He was transported to the al-Khokha field hospital in the south of the governorate for treatment.

On June 8, 2024, a woman was moderately injured in a Houthi mortar attack on the village of al-Maslab in the outskirts of Hays district, south of Hudaydah.

Local sources reported that al-Khokha Hospital received the injured woman, identified as Saham Ibrahim Muhammad 'Uqad, who sustained a shrapnel wound in her left hand as a result of the shelling.

The Houthis' targeting of civilians in southern Hudaydah districts, controlled by the internationally recognized Yemeni government, has continued unabated. Previous attacks have resulted in dozens of casualties, primarily women and children.
