A local official in Marib Governorate (northeastern Yemen) reported an 82% attendance rate in all government offices and institutions on Monday, June 24, 2024, the second day of work following the Eid al-Adha holiday.
Director General of the Civil Service Office, Saud Al-Yousefi, stated that the office's inspection and oversight committees continue to conduct field visits to all government offices, institutions, and administrative units. The committees are tasked with monitoring work progress, and attendance rates, and ensuring employees are present at their desks, serving citizens, and processing their transactions.
Al-Yousefi emphasized that legal action and appropriate penalties will be taken against absent employees, including salary deductions, to ensure performance accountability and prevent administrative negligence in all government offices and service institutions in the governorate.
The Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs, Abdullah Al-Bakri, launched the inspection and oversight committees' activities in various offices and administrative units across the governorate on Sunday.
Al-Bakri urged the field committees to take responsibility and report all absent employees in each office, highlighting the disruption and delays caused by their absence and negligence in processing citizens' transactions and jeopardizing their interests.
He stressed the need to implement a system of rewards and punishments, taking all legal measures to monitor employee attendance in government offices throughout the year.
