US President Joe Biden said yesterday, Monday (June 24, 2024), that he is concerned about reports that a woman tried to drown a Palestinian-American child in a swimming pool in Texas.

“No child should ever be subjected to a violent attack, and my heart goes out to the family,” Biden added on the X platform.

He continued by saying: "I am very concerned about reports of an attempt to drown a 3-year-old Palestinian-American girl."

Earlier, an American woman was charged with premeditated murder, court records showed, following an incident in May that gained attention in the United States over the weekend.

The 42-year-old woman, identified as Elizabeth Wolf, allegedly approached a mother wearing a hijab in the pool of a suburban apartment complex near Dallas.

Then the woman was asked if this mother was the mother of a six-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl, and she said something with racist content, according to reports published by American media.

The woman reportedly grabbed the boy who managed to escape from her, then grabbed the girl and pushed her under the water.

In a statement, the US police said, “The Euless Police Department believes that the crime was committed out of bias or prejudice, and this is part of the case submitted to the Tarrant County Prosecutor’s Office,” while the District Attorney’s Office said it was reviewing the case.

In addition, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Texas branch, held a press conference on Saturday regarding the incident, calling for an investigation into hate crimes.

The mother said in a statement issued by the council that her family is American of Palestinian origin.

This incident comes at a time when the war in Gaza has inflamed emotions in the United States, and universities have witnessed numerous protests.

The war also led to several anti-Semitic and anti-Islamic acts throughout the United States.

In November, a man shot and wounded three students of Palestinian origin in the state of Vermont in the northeastern United States.

In early October, a six-year-old Muslim boy was stabbed to death near Chicago in a crime directly related to the war in Gaza, according to police.
