Four Houthi fighters, including two commanders, were killed and three others injured in clashes with Yemeni army forces in the Asifra front north of Taiz city, according to Colonel Abdul Basit al-Bahri, spokesperson for the Taiz military axis, on Saturday, June 29th, 2024.
The official Yemeni news agency Saba reported al-Bahri's statement, stating that the commander of the Asifra front, the director of the Houthi-controlled central prison, the commander of a Houthi engineering battalion, and two other fighters were killed, while three others were injured in the clashes.
Al-Bahri indicated that army forces thwarted an infiltration attempt by Houthi elements into army positions, inflicting heavy casualties in terms of lives and equipment before the remaining elements fled.
Earlier on Thursday, the Taiz axis media center, in a statement seen by "Bran Press," reported a renewed escalation by the Houthi militia on various fronts across the governorate last week, coinciding with the opening of the Qasr al-Kamb roundabout road in the Hawdh al-Ashraf.
According to the center, the escalation focused on the fronts surrounding the city, where Houthi militants carried out offensive operations, artillery shelling, and infiltration attempts, which were repelled by the national army forces.
The center noted that intense clashes took place on Thursday between the national army and Houthi militants on the al-Kureifat front east of Taiz city after Houthi artillery shelling targeted army positions.
Additionally, army forces thwarted a Houthi infiltration attempt on the Asifra front north of the city, resulting in armed clashes that killed two Houthi fighters and injured four others, according to the center.
