Marib Governor and member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Sheikh Sultan al-Arada, met with leaders of political parties and organizations in the province on Sunday, June 30th, 2024. The meeting aimed to discuss the latest political, military, and economic developments in the Yemeni arena.
Al-Arada emphasized the importance of unifying the political stance and media discourse among political parties. This, he said, would contribute to strengthening national unity, achieving social cohesion, and overcoming current challenges.
The governor highlighted the Houthi militia's continued military mobilization, economic escalation, and acts of piracy targeting international navigation in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. He also condemned the Houthis' abduction of Yemenia Airlines planes and other violations and crimes.
Al-Arada stressed the need to strengthen popular support for the principles of the republic and adherence to national constants. He called for the activation of joint work between all national components and forces and the mobilization of all sincere efforts to support the national and decisive battle against the Houthis.
The governor urged the participants to learn from past experiences, abandon disagreements, and bridge differences. He emphasized the need to avoid political squabbles and media slander and to prioritize the interests of the nation above all else.
Al-Arada commended the spirit of brotherhood, consensus, and sacrifice among the political parties in the province, and their unity around national principles and achievements embodied in the revolution and the republic. He praised their stance in defending these principles alongside their brothers in the armed forces, security, and popular resistance.
He specifically commended the national stance of the General People's Congress leadership and base in Marib, who have opposed the Houthi coup since the very beginning. He noted that the Congress leadership and members in Marib have joined forces with their brothers from other political parties to support and assist the army, security, and resistance in defending the province against the Houthi aggression.
Leaders of political parties and organizations in Marib affirmed their support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, and the local authority in the province. They reiterated their commitment to national unity and strengthening all efforts to unite the word and coordinate efforts to confront the Houthi terrorist militia, which poses a threat to the nation in general and Ma'rib in particular.
This meeting comes after individuals impersonated leadership positions within the General People's Congress branch in the province and opened headquarters in the Harib district.
On Wednesday, June 26th, leaders of political parties and organizations in Marib condemned the impersonation, considering it a violation of all systems, laws, and regulations governing party work. They issued a statement declaring that this act revealed a dangerous plot targeting the province, its political life, and its internal unity. They accused the Houthis of attempting to dismantle the internal front in favor of their Iranian-backed terrorist project, which seeks to harm the province.
