Fierce clashes erupted on Monday, July 1, 2024, between Houthi militants and members of the Al-Ghanem tribe in the Houthi-controlled "Al-Jafara" area in southern Marib province, according to tribal sources.
The sources told Barran Press that the clashes began early Monday morning following a raid by Houthi fighters on the homes of Al-Ghanem tribesmen. The Houthis claimed they were searching for "Khalifa Ali Saleh Hadj," whom they accuse of being responsible for the killing of a Houthi supply official in the area.
The sources added that following the death of the Houthi supply official, the group launched a large-scale operation against the Al-Ghanem tribe in the "Al-Jafara" area, located between the districts of "Harib and Al-Abdiyah." The Houthi operation involved widespread arrests and raids on civilian homes.
The sources reported that fierce clashes ensued between the Al-Ghanem tribesmen and the Houthi forces who attacked their homes with various weapons. The fighting was ongoing and intense at the time of this report (4 pm local time).
