A massive fire ripped through several shops in Sana'a's Shumaila market on Friday, July 5th, 2024, causing significant material damage, according to local sources.
The fire, which broke out in the southern part of the capital, controlled by the Houthi group designated as a terrorist organization by the international community, resulted in the destruction of several shops, including a furniture store, a perfume shop, and two stores selling household goods.
Sources told Barran Press that the fire caused substantial damage and confirmed there were no casualties.
The sources attributed the fire's rapid spread to the delayed arrival of fire crews and the inability of citizens to extinguish the flames in the initial stages.
The incident highlights the urgent need for improved emergency response systems in Sana'a, particularly in densely populated areas like Shumaila market.
