The United States announced on Saturday, July 6, 2024, that it is coordinating with Oman on a number of issues, including the "unlawful detentions of UN and international organization staff and diplomatic missions by the Houthis."

This statement was made in a press release published by the U.S. Department of State via its Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs account on X (formerly Twitter), as observed by "Bran Press." The release stated that the U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, met with the Omani Ambassador to Washington, Musa Hamdan.

According to the statement, Lenderking discussed with the Omani Ambassador the Houthi attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, which the U.S. State Department described as "reckless" and "endangering the peace process."

On June 30, the United States announced that its Special Envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, would continue discussions with partners in "Saudi Arabia and Oman" regarding the recent Houthi arrests of UN staff and the Red Sea attacks.

A U.S. State Department press release published on its website and reviewed by "Bran Press" stated that the U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, would be traveling to Saudi Arabia and Oman this week.

The statement said the U.S. envoy would continue "discussions with partners on the recent arrests of UN staff, diplomats, and international non-governmental organizations by the Houthis."

He will also discuss "efforts to ensure the immediate cessation of the Houthis' reckless attacks in the Red Sea and surrounding waterways."

The U.S. State Department statement noted that the arrests and attacks carried out by the Houthi group, internationally designated as a terrorist organization, threaten progress towards a lasting solution to the conflict in Yemen and hinder the delivery of humanitarian aid to Yemenis and those in need throughout the region.
