The Yemeni Ministry of Interior, recognized by the international community, announced on Sunday, July 7, 2024, the arrest of 1488 individuals for various criminal offenses during the month of June.

According to statistics released by the Ministry's Security Media Center, security forces apprehended suspects in connection with 1348 crimes out of a total of 1681 reported across different governorates. The crimes included 45 premeditated murders and 49 attempted murders.

The arrested suspects were distributed across various governorates, with the highest number in Taiz (370), followed by Hadramaut Coastal Districts (287). Other notable numbers included 275 suspects in Marib, 150 in Aden, 107 in Shabwa, 74 in Dhalea, 72 in Lahj, 48 in Mahra, 40 in Hadramaut Valley and Desert, 34 in Abyan, 20 in Hodeidah, and 11 in Hajjah.

The Ministry's statistics further revealed a breakdown of the crimes: 45 premeditated murders, 49 attempted murders, 364 intentional injuries, 234 various thefts, 97 assaults on property, 72 fraud and deception, 67 breach of trust, 60 threats, 55 defamation, 50 possession, use and trafficking of drugs, 36 resistance to authorities and assault on public funds and officials, 31 firing and exchange of fire, 29 violation of home sanctity, 23 intentional explosions, fires, terrorism and sabotage, 17 illegal trade and alcohol consumption, 14 extortion, 10 cases of found corpses under suspicion, 10 robberies and looting, 9 rape, 7 negligent homicide, 7 rape, 6 unlawful cohabitation, 6 forgery of official documents, 6 adultery, 5 kidnappings, 5 defamation, 5 impersonations, 5 assault on private property, 5 harassment, 3 extortion, 2 cases of religious mockery and desecration, and 1 case each of smuggling, illegal fishing, and possession of a found child.
