A recent analytical report by the Energy Research Unit has revealed that Yemen, along with five other Arab nations, has secured a spot among the world's top LNG producers.
According to the report, published by the Washington-based Energy Research Unit on Monday, seen by Barran Press, July 8, 2024, Yemen ranks 14th globally with an annual production capacity of 6.7 million tons.
This places Yemen ahead of the United Arab Emirates, which holds the 15th position with a yearly production capacity of 5.3 million tons.
The report, which analyzed the global ranking of Arab countries in LNG production, highlighted Qatar as the top Arab producer, holding the third position globally with an annual output of 77.1 million tons. Algeria follows closely, securing the seventh spot with 25.5 million tons per year.
Egypt claims the third position among Arab nations, ranking 10th globally with an annual production capacity of 12.2 million tons. Oman follows, holding the 11th global position with 10.4 million tons annually. Yemen secures the fifth position among Arab nations and the 14th globally with 6.7 million tons, while the UAE occupies the sixth position among Arab nations and the 15th globally with 5.3 million tons.
The report further reveals that the United States holds the top position among the world's largest LNG producers (operational or under construction) with a production capacity of 91.4 million tons per year as of February 2024.
Australia follows in second place with an operational production capacity of 87.6 million tons per year, followed by Qatar with 77.1 million tons per year, according to data from the International Gas Union.
These three nations, the world's largest LNG exporters, collectively account for over half of the global LNG production capacity.
Malaysia secures the fourth position with an annual production capacity of 32 million tons, surpassing Indonesia, which holds the fifth position with a slight margin, reaching a production capacity of 30.3 million tons by the end of February 2024.
Russia occupies the sixth position globally with an operational production capacity of 29.1 million tons per year, followed by Algeria in seventh place with 25.5 million tons per year, and Nigeria in eighth place with 22.2 million tons per year.
The small Latin American nation of Trinidad and Tobago claims the ninth position globally with a production capacity of 14.8 million tons per year, followed by Egypt in 10th place with 12.2 million tons per year.
Oman holds the 12th position in terms of LNG production capacity, reaching 10.4 million tons per year, followed by Brunei with 7.2 million tons per year, and Papua New Guinea with 6.9 million tons per year.
Yemen occupies the 14th position globally with a production capacity of 6.7 million tons per year, surpassing the UAE in 15th place with a capacity of 5.3 million tons per year, according to detailed data collected by the Energy Research Unit on the ranking of Arab countries in the global list.
Angola, Norway, and Peru occupy the next three positions, with LNG production capacities reaching 5.2 million tons, 4.6 million tons, and 4.5 million tons per year, respectively.
Four other African countries (Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Cameroon, and Congo) occupy the last positions, with their liquefied natural gas production capacities reaching 3.7 million tons, 3.4 million tons, 2.4 million tons, and 0.6 million tons per year, respectively.
