Local authorities in Taiz, southwestern Yemen, convened a meeting on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, with leaders and representatives of political parties, political components, and labor unions to discuss the province's "vision for confronting Houthi ideology."

According to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, the meeting, chaired by Taiz Deputy Governor Abdulqawi Al-Makhlafi, aimed to develop a unified and comprehensive ideological vision to protect individuals and society from the dangers of the Houthi group, internationally designated as a terrorist organization.

Al-Makhlafi emphasized the objective of "establishing mechanisms and awareness programs regarding the risks of Houthi ideology and formulating a unified ideological vision to safeguard society and future generations from the dangers of this dark project."

He commended the role of political parties and their involvement in the resistance since the first shot, their contribution to strengthening the efforts of security and military forces, their support for local authorities and the political leadership, and their "national stances on many local, regional, and Arab issues and developments."

According to Saba, attendees reviewed a summary of the tasks and procedures adopted in the province's vision for confronting Houthi ideology, based on the general guidelines of this project, and identified specific areas for implementing various plans and activities.

The report stated that "a committee was formed to develop the vision, literature, and general guidelines for the plans. Previous meetings had all emphasized the need to establish mechanisms and awareness programs regarding the risks of Houthi ideology."

The meeting also highlighted the importance of involving intellectuals, academics, media professionals, and cultural figures in formulating appropriate scientific, ideological, historical, and political perspectives, and protecting society by having each sector contribute its vision in its respective field. They stressed the need to expedite the submission of these visions to enable the development of a general vision and initiate field activities.

Military and security leaders provided detailed explanations of the latest military developments and the security deployment implemented after the opening of the Qasr Roundabout-Kemp road, reviewing the security efforts undertaken to maintain order.

Participants' interventions focused on the importance of uniting all efforts to confront the Houthi project, strengthening public awareness, and promoting national culture among the community.
