Ibrahim Omar, goalkeeper for the Rashid football club, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, after a strong collision with a striker from the Ahli Al-Khoukha team during a match in the Western Coast football league in Yemen.

Club sources reported that the incident occurred in the first half of the match when Omar collided with the striker while attempting to save a powerful shot. The goalkeeper died instantly on the field, and all attempts to revive him failed.

While the Rashid club management expressed deep sorrow and regret over the goalkeeper's death, describing it as a "huge loss for the club and the family," the Western Coast league competition committee decided to postpone all matches of the current round in mourning for the player's passing.
