Government military sources reported on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, that the "Joint Forces" successfully repelled an attack by Houthi militia fighters, designated as a terrorist group by the international community, south of Al-Jarrahi in Hodeidah governorate, southwestern Yemen.
The official Yemeni news agency "Saba" quoted the sources as saying that the Houthi militia "deployed dozens of its elements in an attempt to infiltrate towards a strategic position south of Al-Jarrahi, supported by heavy fire, but to no avail."
The agency added that "units of the Joint Forces engaged in clashes with the militia elements, forcing them to flee after suffering direct casualties." It further reported that "the Joint Forces' artillery silenced the Houthi artillery fire with concentrated strikes, increasing their losses."
This attack comes amidst troop mobilizations on both sides in the Taiz, Marib, and Lahj fronts, coinciding with regional and international efforts led by the United Nations to push Yemeni parties towards signing a roadmap to end the nine-year war.
