The Yemeni government has condemned the "assassination attempt" on former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Monday, July 15, 2024.

The statement, released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the internationally recognized Yemeni government and published by the official Yemeni news agency "Saba," expressed solidarity with the United States, the former president, and his family against all forms of violence and extremism. The statement wished Trump a speedy recovery.

The statement also conveyed condolences and sympathy to the American government and people, as well as to the victims' families. It wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the "criminal" incident.

On Saturday, July 13, 2024, Trump was injured in his ear during a shooting at a large campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The 78-year-old former president was seen with blood on his face after the shooting. The suspect, a bystander, was killed, and two attendees were seriously injured.

Trump's campaign stated that he was "fine" after Secret Service agents escorted him off the stage following the sound of gunshots.

Videos from the scene showed Trump raising his fist as he was taken off the stage, with blood on his ear.

Trump had just begun his speech in Butler when the incident occurred. Television footage showed panic spreading among the front rows of the rally after a series of gunshots.

Authorities said the FBI is investigating an assassination attempt on the former US president in Pennsylvania. An official said the FBI is not yet ready to disclose the identity of the shooter who injured Trump's ear, nor do they know the motive behind the attack that resulted in one death and two injuries.

The official added during a press conference that they witnessed what they call an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Trump is campaigning to return to the White House in the presidential election scheduled for November. The White House said President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were informed of the incident.
