Marib Meeting Emphasizes Community Role in Security and Stability

A large-scale security meeting was held in the city of Marib (northeastern Yemen) on Thursday, July 18, 2024, to discuss the role of the community in strengthening security and stability in the governorate.

The meeting included officials from the Ministry of Interior of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, security leaders in Marib, as well as businessmen and citizens, according to the official Yemeni news agency Saba.

The agency reported that Major General Mohammed bin Salem Aboud, First Deputy Minister of Interior, emphasized the importance of citizens' role in supporting the efforts of security forces in maintaining security and stability and protecting public and private property in the governorate.

He urged security forces to build bridges of trust with citizens and strengthen cooperation and coordination with them, noting that "the citizen is the first security officer and that maintaining security and stability is everyone's responsibility."

According to Brigadier General Yahya Al-Akou, Assistant Director General of Marib Governorate Police, the meeting aimed to "strengthen cooperation and closeness between citizens and security forces to serve security and stability and enhance the public peace of citizens in the governorate."

He stated that "Marib Governorate has become a safe haven for all Yemenis fleeing the tyranny of the Houthi terrorist militia, which necessitates working with everyone to preserve its security and stability."

For his part, Colonel Ibrahim Ghilan, Commander of the Third Security Zone, thanked the citizens and neighborhood leaders for their cooperation with security forces and their support for their efforts during the past period.

He called for the continuation of this cooperation and coordination to solidify the foundations of security and stability in the governorate in the coming period.
