The Yemeni Ministry of Education, affiliated with the internationally recognized government, announced on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, that the new academic year 2024-2025 will begin on August 18th for all levels of education across the country.
According to the official Yemeni News Agency (Saba), school administrations will resume operations starting Sunday, August 4th, with registration and transfer processes for all grades commencing the following day.
The ministry has set Sunday, August 18th, 2024, as the official start date for the first semester.
Based on the academic calendar, transfer exams for the first semester will be held on December 1st, 2024, with the mid-year break starting on December 15th and lasting for seven days.
The ministry stated that the second semester will begin on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024, with the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holiday for the year 1446 AH commencing on March 20th, 2025.
Classes will resume on April 6th, 2025, and the second semester will officially end on April 10th, 2025. Transfer exams for the second semester will begin on Sunday, April 13th, 2025.
The ministry also announced that the general secondary school exams for both science and humanities streams will start on May 4th, 2025.
The announcement emphasized the importance of all educational administrations in all governorates adhering to the new academic calendar for 2024-2025. It also stressed the need for teaching staff in both government and private schools to report to their respective schools on Sunday, August 11th, in preparation for the new academic year.
