The Military Police in Aden, the declared temporary capital of Yemen, received support from the Arab Coalition led by Saudi Arabia on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

The official Yemeni news agency Saba reported that the support included "a number of military vehicles and equipment for the Aden Military Police to enhance their role and efficiency in carrying out their assigned duties."

According to the agency, the Commander of the Military Police, Major General Mohammed Al-Sha'eri, expressed gratitude for the support provided by the coalition led by Saudi Arabia, stating that it would assist the Military Police in executing their law enforcement and security responsibilities.

Al-Sha'eri emphasized that the military equipment provided by the coalition would enhance the readiness of the Military Police and elevate their performance to effectively carry out their duties.

This marks the first publicly announced support provided by the Saudi-led coalition to the Military Police in Aden, which has been perceived as less equipped and armed compared to other military and security formations within the city declared as the temporary capital.

The Military Police are responsible for enforcing regulations concerning military personnel, protecting high-ranking military figures, investigating crimes involving military assets and weapons, and handling all matters related to the armed forces.
