A father and his son tragically drowned after a flash flood swept away their car in Sa'ada governorate, northern Yemen, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

Local sources told "Barran Press" that the heavy rains caused a flash flood in the "Tukhīyah" valley in the Majz district of Sa'ada. The flood swept away the car of Abdulaziz Hadi Ali al-Hadhīfī as he attempted to cross the valley.

Sources reported that the floodwaters carried al-Hadhīfī's car away, resulting in his death and the death of his son who was with him. While residents were able to recover the father's body, search efforts for the child's body are ongoing as of this report (4:00 PM Tuesday).

"Bran Press" obtained a video documenting the moment the floodwaters attempted to sweep away al-Hadhīfī's car as he tried to cross the flooded "Tukhīyah" valley in the Majz district of Sa'ada.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by flash floods, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall. The incident also highlights the importance of taking necessary precautions and avoiding crossing flooded areas.
