The Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance in eastern Yemen has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Yemeni government, demanding a "genuine and active partnership" in the management of oil reserves at the Al-Dhaba port and the Masila oil field. The alliance has threatened to seize control of these assets if their demands are not met.

Sources within the alliance revealed to "Barran Press" that a meeting held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, resulted in the ultimatum. The alliance claims a rightful share of the oil revenue from these locations, which are located in Hadhramaut.

The alliance's statement, obtained by Barran Press, called on President of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi to recognize the rights of Hadhramaut and activate the partnership role, similar to other parties involved in the comprehensive settlement.

The statement warned against any attempts to dispose of, market, or export Hadhramaut's oil before securing and guaranteeing the rights of the province's people.

The alliance declared that if their demands are not met within 48 hours from Wednesday afternoon, they will take control of the oil reserves and the land. They consider the oil reserves in the Al-Dhaba port and the Masila oil field to be the rightful property of the people of Hadhramaut.

This move by the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance follows a recent visit by President Al-Alimi to Mukalla, the capital of Hadhramaut, accompanied by members of the Presidential Leadership Council Othman Majli and Abdullah Al-Alimi. The alliance's ultimatum also coincides with efforts by the legitimate government in Hadhramaut and Shabwa to resume oil exports.

The alliance's demands highlight the growing tensions over oil revenue sharing in Yemen, particularly in regions rich in natural resources. The government's response to the ultimatum will be crucial in determining the future of oil production and distribution in Hadhramaut.
