Marib, Yemen - On Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, a large-scale women's protest took place in the city of Marib, Yemen, denouncing the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas' political bureau, in Tehran, Iran.
The participants chanted slogans condemning the "terrorist" crime and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people facing a "genocidal war" waged by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank for over 300 days.
They raised the Yemeni and Palestinian flags, held pictures of the slain Haniyeh, and chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian people, condemning their horrific plight.
A statement released by the women's protest, received by "Bran Press," described the assassination of Haniyeh as a "heinous criminal act embodying the ugly criminal face of the occupying Zionist entity." The statement declared that the act "contradicts all international, humanitarian, and diplomatic norms and laws."

The statement asserted that this crime reflects "the weakness and defeat the enemy is experiencing on the battlefield in the valiant Gaza," forcing them to resort to such "treacherous methods" to achieve a false victory.
The statement further asserted that "the responsibility for this heinous crime does not solely lie with the entity of betrayal and treachery, but is shared by all those who provide them with weapons and support," referring to the United States, Britain, and European Union countries.
The statement urged "the international community, through all its institutions and bodies, to take serious and effective action to enforce international laws and swiftly impose punitive measures against the Israeli occupation for its repeated violations against the Palestinian people."
The statement called on "the International Court of Justice to act immediately to implement the decisions issued against war criminals and perpetrators of genocide," demanding a "transparent investigation into the heinous assassination."
The women's protest in Marib praised "the resilience and sacrifices of Palestinian women who have demonstrated patience and steadfastness on their land against the Israeli killing machine."
Last Wednesday, Hamas announced the assassination of Haniyeh following a "treacherous Zionist raid" on his residence in Tehran, after his participation in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president on Tuesday.
For the ninth consecutive month, Marib has witnessed solidarity events with the Palestinian people, who are facing a brutal and destructive war waged by the Israeli occupation with unprecedented American and Western support.
Hundreds of citizens, men and women, from various social and political segments, civil society organizations, university students, and scientific institutes participate in these protest rallies.
