A general contracting company, "Diman for General Contracting, Roads, and Bridges," initiated a volunteer campaign on Sunday, August 4, 2024, to clear sand dunes from the international road connecting the governorates of Marib and Hadhramaut (eastern Yemen).

Barran Press correspondent reported that "Diman" began clearing the sand dunes from the main asphalt road in the "Al-Araqeen" area of the Wadi Ma'rib district, east of Ma'rib Governorate.

The correspondent confirmed that "Diman" is clearing the sand dunes from the road through voluntary efforts, to safeguard the lives of travelers, after the local branch of the General Roads and Bridges Authority failed to fulfill its duty in maintaining roads in the governorate.

Previously, Bran Press published a report highlighting the increasing encroachment of sand dunes on the main road connecting Marib and Safer due to active northerly seasonal winds, urging road users to exercise caution.

The road connecting Marib and Hadhramaut is one of the most crucial main roads and an international route, connecting several Yemeni governorates to the Al-Wadi'ah border crossing with Saudi Arabia.
