Hodeidah, Yemen - Torrential rains have battered Hodeidah Governorate in western Yemen since Tuesday afternoon, causing widespread flooding and submerging entire neighborhoods. Local sources reported that the situation in the Tihama plain is dire, with destructive floods sweeping through communities, farms, and villages.

"The situation is catastrophic in the Tihama plain," a source told "Bran Press." "The rains have been relentless since the afternoon, and the floods are devastating."

Dozens of homes have been damaged in the Mansouriyah neighborhood and villages like Beit Al-Faqiha, as well as in the districts of Al-Jurahi, Al-Husayniyah, Al-Zaydiyah, Al-Maraw'ah, and Al-Qati'a.

A video obtained by "Bran Press" shows an elderly man desperately pleading with God to stop the rain, which has been falling for nearly five hours. Other videos capture the intensity of the downpour and the raging floodwaters that have inundated Tihama.

Weather forecasts predict that heavy to moderate rain will continue across most of Yemen for the next 48 hours, fueled by massive tropical clouds gathering over the western part of the country.

Numerical weather models analyzed by "Bran Press" detected 9,000 lightning strikes at 8:30 PM on Tuesday, August 6th, emanating from massive tropical clouds currently covering the skies of Hajjah and Hodeidah and extending into Jazan in southern Saudi Arabia.

These weather models predict that Hodeidah, Hajjah, and neighboring governorates will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall this evening, after midnight, and into the early hours of Wednesday, August 7th. These downpours could lead to flash floods.

Heavy to moderate thundershowers are expected to intensify during the afternoon and evening hours of Wednesday in the governorates of Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Hodeidah, Rima, Sana'a, Dhamar, Amran, Sa'ada, Ibb, Taiz, Al-Dhale'a, Al-Bayda, Abyan, Lahij, Shabwah, and southern Hadhramaut.

On Thursday, August 8th, heavy to very heavy rain is anticipated to return at 6 AM in Hodeidah, as weather models predict a massive tropical cloud will concentrate over the governorate and its surrounding areas. Heavy rain is also expected to intensify during the afternoon and evening hours, primarily in the governorates of Hajjah, Amran, Al-Mahwit, Sa'ada, Hodeidah, Ibb, Dhamar, Rima, Sana'a, Al-Bayda, Al-Dhale'a, Taiz, Abyan, Lahij, Shabwah, with scattered activity in Ma'rib, Hadhramaut, Lahij, and Al-Jawf.

The forecasts indicate that massive tropical clouds will continue to flow across the Red Sea on Friday, August 9th. Hodeidah is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rain on Friday morning, with heavy to moderate rain extending to the governorates of Dhamar, Ibb, Al-Mahwit, Sana'a, Al-Dhale'a, Rima, Taiz, Abyan, Lahij, Al-Bayda, Shabwah, western Al-Jawf, southern Hadhramaut, and southern Ma'rib during the afternoon and evening hours.
