Local sources in the central Yemeni province of Bayda reported on Thursday, August 8th, 2024, that tribal armed men have blocked the road leading to the village of "Hamm Sarar" in the "Walad Rabiah Qifah" district to prevent the arrival of reinforcements from the Iranian-backed Houthi group, designated as a terrorist organization by several countries.

On Wednesday, fierce clashes erupted between villagers and Houthi elements, resulting in the tribes taking control of a checkpoint and killing the Houthi fighters stationed there.

Sources told Barran Press that residents of the Qifah region managed to block a military convoy mobilized by the Houthi group from the city of Redaa towards the village of "Hamm Sarar" to regain control of the village, which they lost after armed confrontations with local residents.

The sources confirmed that the Qifah tribes successfully prevented the military convoy from reaching "Hamm Sarar" after setting up checkpoints and armed ambushes on the roads leading to the village.

They indicated that tribal mediation is "attempting to contain the clashes between the Qifah tribes and the Houthi group," confirming that villagers allowed the mediators to retrieve the bodies of the slain Houthis from atop the mosque minaret.

On Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, local sources in Bayda province reported clashes between citizens in the "Walad Rabiah" district and Houthi fighters, ending with the citizens taking control of a checkpoint and killing the fighters stationed there.

Sources told Barran Press that the clashes erupted in the village of "Hamm Sarar" after the Houthis killed one villager and injured another at a checkpoint on the village entrance.

They explained that Houthi fighters fired upon the citizen while he was riding his motorcycle, killing him instantly, while another citizen accompanying him was injured. This prompted the villagers to engage in clashes with the Houthis, managing to kill two of them and injure others.

Social media activists shared videos showing Houthi fighters surrounding the area, while villagers, including children and women, fled. Other footage depicted a fire in the mosque minaret.

The province of Bayda in central Yemen frequently witnesses armed clashes between the Houthi group and local residents who complain about the increasing harassment and restrictions imposed by the group. These clashes often result in casualties on both sides, followed by the Houthis demolishing the homes of citizens and tightening their security grip on the area.
