Heavy Rains Forecast for 9 Yemeni Governorates Over Next 10 Days

 A series of heavy to moderate rainstorms are expected to hit nine Yemeni governorates over the next 10 days, according to numerical weather models, seen by  "Barran Press". The downpours, anticipated between August 8th and 17th, could lead to localized flooding in some areas.

The affected governorates include: Hajjah, Reimah, Al-Mahweet, Ibb, Dhamar, Sana'a, Al-Dhale'e, Amran, and Sa'ada.

The weather models predict daily thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours, throughout the 10-day period.

On Friday, August 9th, heavy to moderate rainfall is expected in the following governorates: Hajjah, Reimah, Al-Mahweet, Ibb, Dhamar, Sana'a, Al-Dhale'e, Amran, Sa'ada, Hodeidah, Taizz, Al-Bayda, Abyan, South and East Shabwah, West Al-Jawf, and South Hadhramaut.

Similar weather patterns are anticipated on Saturday, August 10th, with thunderstorms predicted for Hajjah, Reimah, Al-Mahweet, Ibb, Dhamar, Sana'a, Al-Dhale'e, Amran, Sa'ada, Lahj, Abyan, Al-Bayda, South and West Shabwah, West Al-Jawf, and South Hadhramaut.

On Sunday, August 11th, the affected areas expand to include Hajjah, Reimah, Al-Mahweet, Ibb, Dhamar, Sana'a, Al-Dhale'e, Amran, Sa'ada, Taizz, Hodeidah, Al-Bayda, Abyan, Shabwah, Al-Jawf, Hadhramaut, South and West Ma'rib, and North Lahj.

The intensity of the rainfall is expected to increase on Monday, August 12th, with particularly heavy downpours predicted for Hajjah and Sana'a. Moderate to heavy rain is expected in Reimah, Al-Mahweet, Ibb, Dhamar, Al-Dhale'e, Amran, Sa'ada, and extending eastward to include Ma'rib, Al-Jawf, Shabwah, Al-Bayda, and Hadhramaut.

Tuesday, August 13th, will see heavy rainfall in Hodeidah, Hajjah, Al-Mahweet, Reimah, Sana'a, Dhamar, Taizz, Al-Bayda, Ma'rib, Shabwah, Al-Jawf, Hadhramaut, Abyan, East Mahrah, and North Lahj.

Thunderstorms are expected to continue on Wednesday, August 14th, with afternoon and evening showers in Hajjah, Reimah, Al-Mahweet, Ibb, Dhamar, Sana'a, Al-Dhale'e, Amran, Sa'ada, Taizz, Ma'rib, and Al-Bayda.

The following day, Thursday, August 15th, will see thunderstorms in Hajjah, Reimah, Al-Mahweet, Ibb, Dhamar, Sana'a, Al-Dhale'e, Amran, Sa'ada, Ma'rib, Shabwah, Hadhramaut, and Taizz.

Friday, August 16th, is predicted to see very heavy rainfall, potentially leading to flooding, in Hodeidah, Hajjah, Al-Mahweet, Reimah, parts of Dhamar and Ibb, Taizz, Sana'a, Amran, Sa'ada, Abyan, and Lahj.

Finally, on Saturday, August 17th, moderate to light rain is expected in limited areas of Sana'a, Amran, Dhamar, Sa'ada, Ibb, Al-Mahweet, Hajjah, Taizz, and Abyan.

The Yemeni authorities are urged to take necessary precautions to mitigate the potential risks associated with these heavy rains, including flooding and landslides.
