Yemeni Government Announces Preparations for Inauguration of "Ataq Airport" in Shabwah

Yemen's recognized government's Minister of Transportation, Abdulsalam Hamid, revealed on Monday, August 12, 2024, that the ministry is making arrangements for the inauguration of "Ataq Airport" in Shabwah governorate (eastern Yemen).

The announcement came during a meeting chaired by Hamid in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, to discuss the efforts of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology in improving the situation of liberated airports and regulating air traffic.

According to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, Hamid stated that the ministry is working to expedite the arrangements for the future fencing of Aden Airport and the ongoing preparations for the inauguration of Ataq Airport, following the awarding of the tender and the commencement of work by the contractor.

He instructed the focus on improving services at Riyan and Socotra airports, as part of the development and modernization projects of the authority included in the Ministry of Transportation's strategic plan and the government's goals to rebuild institutions and enhance their services to the community.
