The Republic of Yemen on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, expressed its "strongest condemnation and denunciation of the act of extremists in the Israeli occupation government, who stormed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and imposed restrictions on the entry of worshippers."
The statement, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, was published by the official Yemeni news agency Saba.
The statement considered the incursion "a blatant violation of international law and international resolutions, and a deliberate provocation of the feelings of Muslims in all countries of the world."
The Yemeni Foreign Ministry, in its statement, called on "the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in protecting holy sites and stopping the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people."
On Tuesday, hundreds of Israeli extremists stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque, accompanied by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Minister of the Negev and Galilee Yitzhak Vasrlov, under police protection.
The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem, (affiliated with Jordan and responsible for managing the affairs of Al-Aqsa), stated that "2250 settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque," according to Turkey's Anadolu Agency.
The storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque coincides with the ongoing war waged by Israeli occupation forces, with full American support, since October 7th, 2024, on the Gaza Strip. The war has resulted in over 132,000 Palestinian casualties, mostly children and women, and over 10,000 missing, amidst widespread destruction and a deadly famine.
