The head of the Marib Civil Registry branch, Brigadier General Mohammed Majidie, has vehemently denied allegations circulating on social media platforms accusing the branch of discriminatory practices and refusing to issue identity documents to Marib residents.

In a statement to "Barran Press" on Thursday, August 15, 2024, Brigadier General Majidie asserted that the branch has consistently issued identity cards to anyone presenting official documentation proving their birth in Marib, including vaccination certificates or hospital records. He emphasized that individuals lacking such documentation, or those born in other governorates, are registered according to their place of birth, as stipulated by Yemeni law.

Majidie stressed that the Marib branch operates with integrity and denies any discriminatory or regional bias, attributing the allegations to malicious attempts to tarnish Marib's reputation through social media manipulation. He urged anyone facing difficulties or rejection at the branch to personally visit the Civil Registry and provide evidence of their situation, assuring them of fair treatment.

He further condemned the use of cheap tactics and extortion attempts aimed at discrediting the branch, emphasizing that Marib welcomes all individuals without discrimination.

Social media accounts had previously circulated posts claiming that families in Marib were struggling to obtain birth certificates for their children, accusing the Civil Registry of refusing to issue documents for children born in the governorate, allegedly due to concerns about their non-native status and potential future benefits reserved for Marib residents. Brigadier General Majidie, in his interview with "Barran Press," categorically refuted these accusations.
