Heavy Rains Expected in 12 Yemeni Governorates Over Next 48 Hours, Potential for Flooding

Numerical weather models forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across several Yemeni governorates over the next 48 hours, with the potential for flooding in some areas, according to data monitored by "Barran Press" on Thursday, August 15, 2024.

The governorates of Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Raymah, Al-Hudaydah, Dhamar, Sana'a, Ibb, Amran, Sa'ada, Taiz, Al-Bayda, Marib, and Al-Dhalea are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17.

The American model predicts very heavy rainfall in Raymah and Al-Hudaydah on Saturday, August 17, potentially leading to flooding. The European model forecasts very heavy rainfall on both Friday and Saturday in Hajjah and Al-Mahwit, in northwestern Yemen.

Moderate to heavy rain with scattered thunderstorms is expected during the afternoon and evening hours on Friday and Saturday in various parts of Shabwa, Al-Jawf, Hadhramaut, Abyan, and Mahra.
