Yemen's Hodeidah Records Highest Rainfall, Heavy Rains Forecast for 16 Governorates

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported that Hodeidah Governorate, located in western Yemen, recorded the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours. The NCM issued a warning for heavy to very heavy thundershowers in 16 governorates over the next 24 hours.

According to the NCM's daily report, seen by "Barran Press",  the rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours was as follows: Hodeidah: 66.3 mm, Ibb-Ba'dan: 21.4 mm, Al-Dhale'e: 16.2 mm, Al-Mahwit: 15.2 mm, Sana'a-Huda: 8.7 mm, Remah: 2.9 mm, Al-Shihr-Hadhramaut: 2.6 mm, Al-Ma'afer-Taiz: 0.4 mm, Al-Boun-Amran: 0.2 mm.

The NCM also expects heavy to very heavy thundershowers outside the scope of weather stations in parts of the governorates of Mahra, Hadhramaut, Al-Jawf, Shabwa, Sa'ada, Al-Bayda, Dhamar, Amran, Abyan, Lahj, Hajjah, Hodeidah, and the Tihama Plain.

The NCM's forecast for the coming hours predicts heavy to very heavy thundershowers accompanied by strong downdrafts, occasional hail, and scattered areas in the governorates of Mahra, Hadhramaut, Shabwa, Abyan, Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, Al-Dhale'e, Hodeidah, Remah, Dhamar, Sana'a, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, Amran, and Sa'ada (plains, highlands, and Tihama coast).

The NCM also expects moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder in parts of Al-Bayda, Al-Jawf, Marib, and Aden.

The NCM has issued a warning to citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall, advising them to avoid areas prone to flash floods during and after rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, rockfalls, and the collapse of traditional mud houses and fortresses. The NCM also warns of potential landslides, strong downdrafts, and reduced visibility due to rain and dense low clouds, especially in mountainous areas and slopes.

The NCM has urged relevant official authorities to take necessary measures to protect lives and property and to monitor the NCM's reports and bulletins.
