Two brothers were fatally shot by armed assailants in the city of Rada'a, Al Bayda Governorate, on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024. Local sources have alleged that the Houthi authorities, who control the area, have turned a blind eye to the incident, further fueling tensions.

The victims, identified as Mardas Musa Ahmed Al-Abbasi and his brother Adam Musa Ahmed Al-Abbasi, were gunned down in front of Al-Nakhbah Hospital in Rada'a. The assailants, reportedly members of the Al-Riyam family, fled the scene after firing a barrage of bullets at the brothers.

According to sources talked to "Barran Press", the attack stems from a 40-year-old blood feud between the Al-Abbasi and Al-Riyam families. The Al-Riyam family accuses the Al-Abbasi family of killing one of their sons approximately a year ago.

Local sources have accused the de facto Houthi authorities of complicity in the attack, claiming they allowed the assailants to escape the city without any attempt to apprehend them. This accusation further underscores the growing frustration among the local population with the Houthi's perceived lack of accountability and their failure to maintain security in the region.

This incident highlights the ongoing instability and violence plaguing Yemen, where clan-based feuds and the Houthi's control have created a dangerous environment for civilians. The lack of justice and the perceived complicity of the Houthi authorities in such attacks only exacerbate the existing tensions and contribute to the cycle of violence.
