The Marib branch of the General People's Congress held a commemorative speech ceremony on Saturday, August 24, 2024, marking the 42nd anniversary of the party's founding and the adoption of the National Charter.

Dr. Ahmed Obeid Bin Dagher, the First Deputy of the General People's Congress, delivered a recorded speech, highlighting that the Congress is celebrating its 42nd anniversary under exceptional and difficult circumstances due to the Iran-backed, theocratic militia coup.
Bin Dagher emphasized the importance of supporting the federal state that everyone seeks, building a nation governed by the constitution and law, implementing the outcomes of the national dialogue, establishing a federal state and regions, and activating state institutions at all levels, including security, military, and political.
Saud Al-Yousefi, Deputy Vice President of the General People's Congress branch in Marib, delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the branch head, Sheikh Abdulwahed Ali Al-Qabli Nimeran. He stated that the celebration of the General People's Congress's founding comes amidst difficult and complex circumstances facing the country due to the Houthi militia coup.
Al-Yousefi pointed out that "the militia coup represents a major setback, and its tragic consequences will extend for years to come, as the coup has caused destruction, displacement, and terrorism in all aspects of life."
He said, "The General People's Congress branch in Marib has remained steadfast in its commitment to the nation and its citizens, during challenging times following the fall of the capital and subsequent events. In those difficult and dangerous circumstances, the Congress's decision to stand with the resistance, regardless of the cost, was crucial."
Al-Yousefi called for unity within the republican ranks, emphasizing that it is the only way to mitigate potential risks for all free national forces represented by the Presidential Leadership Council. He stressed the importance of genuine and equitable partnership in managing public affairs, and the need for a local and central review of the situation of the army, security forces, wounded, and martyrs, and the settlement of their affairs within other military sectors.
The ceremony featured several speeches, diverse segments, national anthems, and poetry recitations, all highlighting the journey of the General People's Congress over four decades. These segments were well-received by all attendees.
