Lightning Strikes Kill 7, Injure 4 in Yemen, Raising Toll to 78

Seven people, including children, were killed and four others injured in lightning strikes across several Yemeni governorates over the past week. This brings the total number of lightning strike victims in Yemen since the beginning of July to 78 killed and injured.

According to monitoring by "Barran Press," Among the victims of lightning strikes last week were five members of the same family. Lightning struck their home in Taiz Governorate (southwest Yemen), killing the father and injuring four family members.

Local sources told "Barran Press" that lightning struck the home of "Ali Mahyoub Omar" in the village of "Bomiyah" in the "Barasha" district of the "Muqbana" directorate, west of Taiz, resulting in the father's death and injuries to four family members.

In Hodeidah Governorate (west), local sources told "Barran Press" that lightning killed a child in the "Bani Ibrahim" district of the "Zahra" directorate.

The directorate witnessed lightning strikes last week that claimed the lives of three children, including "Yahya Ibrahim Ahmed Mas" in the village of "Ma'aroufiyah," the daughter of "Abdul-Samad Ma'ouli," and the daughter of "Hamdan Sarh" in the village of "Mahal Hajour" in the "Beit Ma'ouli" area.

In Rima Governorate (west), lightning struck and killed "Sadeq Mohsen Al-Waqidi" in the "Bani Waqidi" district of the "Bilad Al-Ta'am" directorate.

In Marib Governorate (northeast), lightning struck and killed a soldier in the Special Security Forces, "Hilal Al-Shahri," while he was on duty at the "Jafina Al-Sufla" checkpoint south of Marib City.

With the arrival of the autumn rainy season, lightning strike incidents have increased. "Barran Press" has recorded, since the beginning of July, the deaths of 49 people, including women and children, and injuries to 18 others due to lightning strikes in several governorates. This brings the total number of victims to 56 killed and 22 injured.
