Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Visits Taiz Battlefronts, Chairs Security Meeting

TAIZ, YEMEN - President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, along with council members Abdullah Al-Alimi and Othman Majli, and several state leaders, visited a number of battlefronts in Taiz Governorate (southwestern Yemen) on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

According to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, Al-Alimi received briefings from commanders on the theater of operations and assessments of the battlefield situation across various fronts. He commended the high morale of the armed forces and the popular resistance in the governorate, as well as their combat readiness.

In a related development, President Al-Alimi, accompanied by council members Al-Alimi and Majli, convened a meeting with the Taiz security committee. During the meeting, he received updates on the situation in the governorate, reviewed plans for improving security performance, and discussed the support needed to enhance the role of security agencies in maintaining public order and enforcing the rule of law.

Al-Alimi acknowledged the efforts and sacrifices of the armed forces and security personnel in Taiz in confronting attacks by the Houthi militia, which is aligned with the Iranian regime, as well as in pursuing and apprehending their cells and elements of terrorist organizations collaborating with them.

Earlier on Wednesday, President Al-Alimi, along with council members Abdullah Al-Alimi and Othman Majli, laid the foundation stone for a memorial to martyrs at the historic Cairo Citadel in Taiz City (southwestern Yemen).

On Tuesday, August 27, President Al-Alimi arrived in Taiz Governorate, marking his first visit since assuming power in April 2024. He traveled from Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, accompanied by council members Othman Majli and Abdullah Al-Alimi, and a number of officials. The visit was met with a large public reception.
