Tribal sources reported on Thursday, August 29, 2024, that the Lqamush tribes in the Habban district of Shabwah governorate (southeastern Yemen) held an emergency meeting regarding the abduction and disappearance of Sheikh Saeed Omar Muqdah Al-Qamishi's sons since 2016 in Aden, southern Yemen.

Sources told Barran Press that the Lqamush tribes, during their meeting in Habban, confirmed they would resort to all possible means to uncover the fate of Sheikh Muqdah Al-Qamishi's sons and secure their release, if the local authorities in the governorate failed to produce satisfactory results in revealing their fate and releasing them immediately.

The sources added that the tribes emphasized their commitment to uncovering the fate of their abducted sons in Aden, who have been missing for eight years, and securing their release through peaceful means, provided the local authorities in Shabwah governorate respond to their demands and cooperate with them.

This emergency meeting follows a consultative meeting held by the Lqamush tribes on August 19, 2024, in the Al-Aram area of Habban district. The meeting was attended by Shabwah Deputy Governor Naser Mohammed Al-Qamishi, a large number of Lqamush sheikhs and dignitaries, including Sheikh Naser Saeed bin Addu Al-Qamishi, and discussed the case of Sheikh Saeed Omar Muqdah Al-Qamishi's sons, who have been abducted and forcibly disappeared for eight years.

The Lqamush tribes, in their meeting, appealed to the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, the Southern Transitional Council, and the security agencies in Aden to uncover the fate of their forcibly disappeared sons and release them unconditionally.

The Lqamush tribes granted the local authorities in Shabwah governorate an eight-day deadline from the date of the consultative meeting to take action to uncover the fate of their sons and release them. They threatened to take escalatory steps if the governorate leadership does not respond to their demands and take action to fulfill them within the specified deadline.

Sheikh Saeed Omar Muqdah Al-Qamishi's sons, Mohammed Saeed Omar Muqdah Al-Qamishi and Saleh Saeed Omar Muqdah Al-Qamishi, were abducted and forcibly disappeared in Aden in 2016. Their whereabouts remain unknown at the time of this report.
