Two members of the same family were killed on Saturday, August 31, 2024, when their car plunged off a road in Al-Mahwit province (northwest Yemen), according to local sources.

The sources told "Barran Press" that the car carrying a family was involved in an accident on the road to the "Azar'a" district in the "Khabt" directorate of Al-Mahwit. The driver and his niece were killed.

The sources explained that the accident was caused by landslides and mudslides triggered by heavy rains in Al-Mahwit. The landslides caused the car to skid and fall down a slope.

Landslides and mudslides resulting from heavy rains that hit Al-Mahwit last week have cut off major roads in the Khabt directorate, including the Dhahir Pass, the Nimra Pass, and the Azar'a-Wasata road.

Al-Mahwit province experienced extremely heavy rainfall on Tuesday night, August 27, 2024, resulting in the deaths of approximately 43 people, the collapse of 37 homes, and the bursting of seven dams and water barriers in the Qabla and Hamdan districts of the Melhan directorate.
